Agálmata Ediciones takes over from Editorial Me Caído el Veinte to distribute the collections TA EROTIKÁ, Grapas, Grapas+, and their co-editions, which have been published by that publishing house for 25 years. The path forged by the books will no longer be part of Editorial Me Caído el Veinte, but will continue with Agálmata. To this end, Agálmata is now affiliated with the École Lacanienne de Psychanalyse.

The new books will be edited and published under Agálmata's collections: Essay, Fiction, Poetry, and Theater. We will publish and distribute works that open up a space for dialogue with a wide range of readers, which can only benefit what we seek to convey, but also, of course, and ultimately, our readers.

What does it mean to edit? The term is explained by its etymology: it comes from the Latin word "edito," meaning birth or delivery. And that is precisely what editing a book is. And, like any birth, it can be auspicious or not. Because unlike other kinds of births, the birth of a book is ultimately a gamble. Our greatest gamble, then, is that of Agálmata Ediciones itself.

To this end, we have conceived Agálmata Ediciones as an independent, non-profit publishing house whose objective is to offer Spanish-speaking readers titles and authors who wouldn't find a place in the programs of major publishing houses. It is a project whose ultimate goal is the promotion of ideas, thought, and imagination, and which aspires to present not only new publications but also new authors. Therefore, it is also a twofold gamble. A requirement for each publication is that it sparks sufficient interest to establish a bridge that facilitates dialogue in this multicultural country. Conversation, then, as the ultimate goal. With this, we also aspire to broaden the literary universe of the Spanish-speaking reader. And this dialogue will be achieved, we reiterate, through a rigorous approach to literary works: essays, poetry, fiction, and theater.

Agalma, a term from the ancient Greeks, is defined as glory, delight, honor. It is also a gift. The definition includes an image and a small statuette. But also, in Plato's description of these objects in the Symposium, he refers to figurines that contained within them another smaller one, and within that one yet another, and so on: it is the figurine within the figurine. Only inside the last one, one can find the gift—not material—that invites admiration. This is where Socrates found himself, according to Alcibiades, after peeling back the layers that enveloped him.

The agalmata are found in the work, and, with luck, it is up to the reader to discover them; and, with luck as well, to find one of their own. Another challenge.

Finally, we intend for our editions to reveal more than just words: The book serves to exorcise oblivion.
