Hurricane Otis struck the municipality of Acapulco, Guerrero, on October 25, 2023, causing severe damage and grave social, economic, and environmental consequences. The damage assessment was conducted by considering various aspects and analytical frameworks, including the concepts of the social construction of risk, vulnerability, and resilience. The chapters in this work document the experiences and perceptions of the residents, as well as the urban and environmental situation they faced, with the aim of capturing the physical and social evidence that forms the basis for the reconstruction and resilience-building process. The research conducted based on this assessment presents the results of the analysis of buildings and infrastructure damaged by Hurricane Otis in Acapulco. This includes the findings of fieldwork carried out in mid-December 2023, primarily in the neighborhoods of Ciudad Renacimiento, Revolución del Sur, and Francisco Villa, which were affected by flooding and landslides.
