Hurricane Otis struck the municipality of Acapulco, Guerrero, on October 25, 2023, causing severe damage and grave social, economic, and environmental consequences. The damage assessment was conducted by considering various aspects and analytical frameworks, including the concepts of the social construction of risk, vulnerability, and resilience. The chapters in this work document the experiences and perceptions of the residents, as well as the urban and environmental situation they faced, with the aim of capturing the physical and social evidence that forms the basis for the reconstruction and resilience-building process.
