
Francesca Izzo. Francesca Izzo (born July 10, 1948, Formicola) is an Italian political scientist and politician.
A graduate of Florence University, she is a university professor and researcher in Oriental Sciences; she taught the History of Political Doctrines at the Orientale University of Naples for a long time.
Francesca Izzo was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 1996 for the Democratic Party of the Left (PDS) in the Emilia-Romagna constituency, in proportional representation. After the 1997 congress, she served as the women's spokesperson for the party's National Political Committee under Massimo D'Alema. Since 1998, she has been a member of the Democrats of the Left. She retired from parliament in 2001.
Among her various cultural and political experiences, she was a member of the Scientific Committee and the Committee of Guarantors of the Gramsci Foundation. A lifelong feminist, she is a founder of the "If Not Now, When?" movement and a member of the women's association "DiNuovo."
