The War of Desire and Technology (and Other Stories of Sex, Death, and Machines) is a compilation of essays, articles, lectures, and fictional stories by Sandy Stone (a.k.a. Allucquère Rosanne Stone), woven together in collaboration with the author for this historic occasion: its first edition in Spanish. Although much of her theoretical work dates from the 1990s, Stone's ideas remain radically relevant today, in her pioneering attempt to rethink binary structures concerning the body, gender, the "technological," and the "natural." In a brazen miscellany of styles (“a kind of adventure story interspersed with forays into theory,” according to the author herself), Stone leads us through a festival of unclassifiable essays that include stories about phone sex workers, the vampire Lestat, the case of a man accused of raping a woman with multiple personality disorder, and the birth of computer and programming communities in California, where the first techno-hippies, technology visionaries, saboteurs, and hacker-kids turned the utopia of cyberspace upside down. The anthology also includes a new translation of the Post-Transsexual Manifesto, short stories from the pre-digital era, and an excerpt from an unpublished novel that showcase her talent as a science fiction writer.
