Agnes Heller

Agnes Heller

Agnes Heller (Budapest, May 12, 1929 – Balatonalmádi, July 19, 2019) was a Hungarian philosopher, sociologist, professor, and author.

A prominent Marxist thinker at first, she later embraced a social democratic position. In addition to political and social thought, she also focused on Hegelian philosophy, ethics, and existentialism. The development of her thought demonstrates a careful attention to the events of recent decades and at the same time reveals a constant dynamic of maturation.
