Since its public emergence on January 1, 1994, Zapatismo carried out a transformative commitment “from below and to the left” that offered new ways of interpreting life and politics, and, with it, brought hope to a world that He only knows how to combine destruction, misery, oppression, death.

In this history, women have played a leading role from very early days, not only claiming their rights within their own communities, but also playing an active role in the political and social organization of the movement.

This anthology is presented as a vindication of their struggle, by the hand of an author, Sylvia Marcos, whose works, in the words of Karina Ochoa, “are relevant and pertinent not only because they have the voice of the Zapatista women as a common thread, their walks, reflections, actions, theories named as experiences, horizons of meaning, cosmogonies and corpo-political practices, but because they are endowed with a multiple polyphony, produced by the very way in which they were constructed, that is, through a conversation that has a "continuous transition between the author's own history and the contributions of a movement that mobilized and called for action and critical reflection from below."

Today more than ever it is necessary to listen to them: there is much we have to learn from them, and they have not always been given due attention. Their fight, our fight, is still far from over.
