Western Philosophical Perspectives on Education aims to be a reference text that allows the reader to either approach or delve deeper into the study of the educational thought of the most relevant philosophers through a guided analysis of: their critiques of the education of their time, the ideal of the human being they considered worthy of being formed, the characteristics of the society they aspired to as a prototype for their community, and the educational proposals they designed to achieve them. All of these elements, we are certain, will be useful for the training of education scholars, as well as for grounding their professional pedagogical practice.
We believe that this text represents a pedagogical guide for teachers dedicated to teaching this subject or a guide for self-directed learning for students interested in the philosophical reflection on education.
