
By 1915, Sigmund Freud undertook the writing of twelve essays with which he sought to establish his "metapsychology", that is, the theoretical foundations of the psychoanalytic building, in which he was to deal with the impulses, the unconscious, the mourning and the melancholy, among many other core matters. Although in his correspondence he gave indications that he was advancing in all the writings, only five reached the presses; of the rest there seemed to be no trace, until seven decades later the draft of what would have been the final text of this series was found: “Panorama of transfer neuroses”, where key aspects of this concept are outlined. In July of that same year he sent it to Sándor Ferenczi, his Hungarian colleague, authorizing him to dispose of the manuscript as he considered appropriate.
