This book is the result of the Opera and Psychoanalysis Seminar, given at the EFBA in 2019 and 2020. I titled it "Opera and Psychoanalysis: A Tribute to Herbert Graf," a series born from my interest in this "total art," as Richard Wagner called it, since each opera combines music with libretto and staging—an interest shared by many of my colleagues at the EFBA and at institutions affiliated with the Convergence, whom I invited to join me.
