The project to publish the Complete Works of Philo of Alexandria (first century AD) aims to offer a vast field of readers the complex richness of Philo's texts, whose work is an exponent of an extraordinary synthesis of the Jewish faith, Hellenistic humanism and Roman legalism and constitutes one of the matrices of European culture at the intersection of the Greco-Latin world with the Judeo-Christian world. Philo's surviving writings can be ordered into four broad categories: treatises on the hermeneutics of the Bible; historical-theological treatises; apologetic treatises, and treatises on philosophical questions.
