Revueltas was one of the few intellectuals who were not caught by surprise by the Student Movement of 1968. From the outset, he can be seen in the same trenches he had maintained throughout his life, not only as a committed and supportive writer—which he always was—but also as a militant activist. Mexico 68: Youth and Revolution compiles all the texts written by Revueltas—most of them unpublished—during the months of the movement and, later, in Lecumberri prison. These materials are of a diverse nature, produced in the most diverse (and sometimes inconceivable) situations: critical reflections on university self-management; political notes and commentaries; letters, documents, and personal notes that, strictly speaking, constitute a diary of the movement. In them, the reader will undoubtedly find a vivid, thought-provoking, and lucid account of the events.
