During the almost forty years ItaloCalvino collaborated with the prestigious publishing house Einaudi read hundreds, perhaps thousands, of manuscripts by authors unknown as consecrated, who released or whose careers consolidated, but also rejected (sometimes very hard), knowing that as a literary editor should always follow current affinity or sympathy that books aroused in him, even at the risk of being wrong or arbitrary sin. The books of others is part of that facet of Calvin comoeditor and collects 269 letters Calvin addressed both to the authors of the works read as collaborators, friends and writers of the house, many personalities of the time like Primo Levi, Leonardo Sciascia, Umberto Eco, Hans Magnus Enzensberger or Natalia Ginzburg, and which reveals his love (and hate) literary.
Other books offers a unique perspective of the history of literature and thought of the time (1947-1981), and will serve as a guide the interested reader reads and complement Why read the classics.
