This volume offers a very interesting introduction to conceptualize and imagine the current and future of media technologies. Starting from the social transformations, favoured by the emergence and advanced development of 'new media', Christoph Ernst and Jens Schröter open an interdisciplinary debate on imagination, the future and mediality. To do so, they take reflections from philosophy, media studies, social theory, and science and technology studies. This book studies the broad influence of imaginative processes, including science fiction, to make categories appear that can account for media technologies and, especially, digital ones.
