For the first time in Spanish, we present four of Kyōka's most representative stories: "The Operating Room" tells the tale of a love that cannot be fulfilled in life; in "The Saint of Mount Koya," a pilgrim monk confronts his lustful desires and a mysterious woman; "A Spring Day" recounts the journey of two men separated by time but united by a seductive lady who surrenders to her destiny; and "The Crimson Woman" closes the cycle of reunions with an unexpected ending. A cult author revered by some of Japan's most celebrated 20th-century writers, such as Yasunari Kawabata and Yukio Mishima, Kyōka's stories have been adapted for film numerous times by masters like Kenji Mizoguchi and Kon Ichikawa.
