With THINKING OUTSIDE, Foucault hones and develops one of the constant themes of his research: "thinking" in relation to literature, or even better, with some use of language outside their discursive modes, and the " outside "as a sovereign body of knowledge and no-where the literary word develops itself in a neutral space, boundless and timeless, it is no longer the classic enclosed space of representation. In orbit WORDS AND THINGS, THE THINKING OUTSIDE is a necessary chapter in the development of the history of thought, which is in a way the whole work of Foucault. New meeting with Blanchot (who, however, would not ever meet in person), this text was previously published in # 229 of "Critique" (June 1966) dedicated to Maurice Blanchot, whose work testifies, better than any another, that "experience outside" that emerge when we thought discovers the being of language
