Originally published in 1969 and undiscoverable for several years, the concept model is the reworking of two conferences prepared by Alain Badiou under the philosophy course for scientists organized by Louis Althusser in 1968, coinciding with the outbreak of the French May. Badiou proposes a concept model that distinguishes both the concept of logical positivism
of empiricism and, simultaneously, introduces a new relationship between science and ideology. The clarity of presentation of this book makes it a great starting point to apprehend the guidelines of further development of the great French thinker. This new translation is accompanied by an extensive preface by the author in 2007.
