We call "counter-pedagogies of cruelty" all acts and practices that teach, habituate and program subjects to transmute what is alive and its vitality into things. This supposes the capture of something that flowed wanderingly and unpredictable, such as life, to install in its place the inertia and sterility of the measurable, salable, purchaseable and obsolescent thing, as is appropriate for consumption in the current apocalyptic phase of capital. The sexual attack and sexual exploitation of women, for example, are acts of plunder and consumption of the body that constitute the most precise language with which the reification of life is expressed.
