Will Durant

Will Durant (1885-1981) was a renowned American historian and essayist. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Nonfiction (1968) and the Presidential Medal of Freedom (1977), he dedicated more than fifty years to writing his acclaimed eleven-volume series, *A History of Civilization* (the later volumes co-authored with his wife, Ariel Durant).
