
Sheng Keyi is a contemporary Chinese novelist born in a small town in southern China. She graduated with a degree in Philosophy and Literature from Renmin University in Beijing. She has authored ten novels to date, with Wild Fruits being the first to be translated into Spanish. Over the past two decades, her works, which also include short story collections and several novellas, have been translated into fifteen languages and have won numerous national literary awards in China. Her novel Northern Girls was a finalist for the Man Asian Literary Award in 2012. Some of her work depicts Chinese social realities, focusing on the lives of the rural poor and the changing status of women in China. Other works explore recent Chinese history through the lens of allegory. Sheng Keyi is always searching for the truth and attempting to lift the veil that covers the various taboos of Chinese society. She currently resides in Beijing.
