Nasheli Jiménez del Val

Nasheli Jiménez del Val is a researcher and professor of Visual Culture Studies. From 2014 to 2018, she was a Research Associate "C" at the Institute of Aesthetic Research at UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico), where she conducted the research project "Violent Death: Images of Punishment, Sensationalism, and Denunciation in Mexico (1994–2012)." She has been a Marie Curie-Beatriu de Pinós Postdoctoral Fellow, a Professor of Latin American Studies at the University of Stirling, and a Getty Visiting Research Fellow at the Institut National d'Histoire de l'Art. She earned her PhD in Cultural Studies from Cardiff University, and her MA in Political and Social Studies and BA in Graphic Communication from UNAM. Her most recent publication is titled Evidence of an Assassination: Colosio and the Images of Violent Death. She is currently developing the research project "Visuality, Authority, and Counter-Perspectives in the Era of Necropolitics."
