Mercè Ibarz

Mercè Ibarz (Saidí, 1954) is a novelist, cultural critic, essayist, and researcher. She has published La terra retirada (translated into Spanish) and La palmera de blat (translated into French), later collected, along with the previously unpublished Labor inacabada, in the volume Tríptico de la tierra (original edition in Catalan); the short story collections A la ciutat en obres (translated into French) and Febre de carrer, collected in Contes urbans; the novels No parlis de mi quan me’n vagi and Vine com estàs; and the essay collection L’amic de la Finca Roja, as well as the study Buñuel documental. «Tierra sin pan» y su tiempo. Furious Bee of Her Honey is the author's version of her Portrait of Mercè Rodoreda, published in 2022. In 2023, she was awarded the Trajectòria Prize for the innovative nature of her work and its fusion of genres and disciplines. Her most recent work is the essay Don't Think, Look (2024).
