Luis Rafael Volkmann

Luis Rafael Volkmann

Luis Volkmann. From a young age, he knew that animals and plants were his thing, when, accompanied by an aunt, he set out in search of puma tracks and precious stones.

He was fortunate to have many great scholars and nature experts cross his path, encouraging and helping him in different ways.

Nature did its part, showing him a dazzling world that fueled his passion for generating good conservation, research, and awareness-raising actions.

He teaches Biology and Geography to adults and children, with varying degrees of success, though often with good results. He is a naturalist and photographer, and belongs to an extensive network of naturalist and nature photographer friends.

Despite climate change, poisoned food, and numerous examples of human stupidity, he is a fervent optimist about a hopeful future for humanity and nature, where the triad of money, power, and prestige is equated with conscience, equity, and common sense. He is so optimistic that, during the pandemic, he wrote this book.

He is also grateful for being able to express himself through these means, for cultivating the friendships of beautiful people, for his children, for living in the middle of the mountains, and for having a fantastic lens to photograph "the truly important things in life."

He is convinced that dreams and utopias are the path to taking a step forward each day and not giving up. And that education is the key to achieving this.

This is his eleventh book (as author or co-author), and he is aiming for more.

He currently lives in Los Cocos, Córdoba Province, Argentina.
