Javier Garrido was born in Buenos Aires. He is an architect, a graduate of the University of Buenos Aires, although he works in the advertising industry. He has always drawn and written stories, but it was the birth of his children, Amadeo and Lila, that inspired him to enter the world of children's books. "My Cat Luis" and "My Dog Lucas" were his debut in the publishing world. Given their success, the series published two more titles: "My Turtle Julia" and "My Fish Arturito." His book "Amadeo's ABCs" has already gone through several reprints, and he has just published "How to Make a Scary Monster." Finally, in 2017, the legislature of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires declared his works to be of interest to the city's social communication and culture.
