Honorio Robledo

Honorio Robledo. Illustrator, writer, painter, and jaranero (musician who plays the jarana). He was born in Tenancingo, State of Mexico, in 1954. He currently lives in the city of Xalapa, Veracruz. He has illustrated several books, including El Cucuy (Cinco Puntos Press, 2001), Nico Visits the Moon (Cinco Puntos Press, 2001), The Super Cilantro Girl (Children Books Press, 2003), and Bemberecua (Artes de México, 2006). He is the author of the comic strip Cubeta, published in La Jornada Infantil for 10 years. He founded the Encuentro de Jaraneros de Los Ángeles, California, and is a composer of several sones jarochos (traditional Veracruz folk songs). He won first prize in the La Décima Picante competition (Mexico City, 2004).
