Friedrich Reck

Friedrich Reck (1884-1945), the son of an East Prussian landowner who was a Conservative MP, studied medicine and, in 1912, embarked as a ship's doctor for America. Upon his return to Germany, he settled in Bavaria and began contributing to the Süddeutsche Zeitung. He wrote historical novels and became a notable figure in Munich society. In October 1944, he was arrested for the first time; he would not survive the second time: in December of that same year, the Gestapo arrested him again. In January 1945, he arrived at Dachau, where he died shortly after.
