It attests to the growing influence that American culture exerts on the world and the mechanisms by which tourism turns territories into mere theme parks, projects the inquiring look of the learner and draws conclusions from what is crossing its path to then question their perception of the facts.

The twenty-four sequences or themes of NOLA, such as the hours of the day or the chapters of Joyce's Ulysses, move successively through the streets and the history of one of the first cities that was the result of the fusion and synthesis of multiple cultures and civilizations. It is a text far from any generic restriction when moving through the chronicle, the essay, sometimes ethnography and other times fiction. It forces us to rethink the assumed ideas about what a literary text is, the relationship between History and literature, as well as the way in which writing serves as a scalpel and guide to dialogue with the world.
