This very complex part of Greek civilization that is their religion entails a series of problems that, at the same time constitute very attractive aspects of that civilization, have preoccupied scholars of all ages and cultures. The author of this book, professor at the University of La Laguna, tries to approach all this problem for whose exposition he uses almost exhaustive collection of data extracted from ancient and modern sources. Origin and formation of the Olympian gods, worship and celebration among the Greeks, popular and mystery religions, myth and religion, religious criticism are part of the theme about Greek religiosity, which from the original data and, when appropriate, under a phenomenological approach -in it lies the originality of this contribution- is framed in the broadest coordinates of universal religious behavior.
