James Joyce (1882-1941). Irish writer especially known for his Ulysses, an archetypal work of a narrative style based on the interior monologue and a kaleidoscopic writing of a symbolist nature with abundant allusions and allegories, although he is also a poet and author of numerous works in prose of great testimonial value of an era and society, such as Dubliners or Portrait of a Teenage Artist, and of great avant-garde artistic value, such as Finnegans Wake. Criticized for being cryptic and insolent and applauded for being lucid and innovative, there is unanimity that this author will never leave the reader indifferent.
