Playing fields, ritual arenas, hobby spaces, contribute to positioning sports and football on academic, scientific research or public policy agendas. Making the hidden side of sport visible faces the paradox of the media omnipresence of professional sports or the well-known soccer, but there are dimensions that are still invisible. This collection of texts addresses theoretical, historical and ethnographic aspects, from which the sporting phenomenon is understood from various perspectives, whether from the fans or the athletes themselves. And questions are raised such as what do we understand by sport? What meaning does football have for fans?, to address them from the perspectives of identity, politics, gender or generation.
