MARTHA A. ACKELSBERG (New York, 1946) is a professor of Political Science and a member of the Women's Studies Program Committee at Smith College, where she taught courses on political theory, urban politics, political militancy, and feminist theory. She has published articles on Mujeres Libres and on women in the Spanish anarchist movement in Feminist Studies, Radical America, Our Generation, International Labor and Working Class History, and Communal Societies. Her works are also part of numerous anthologies on the militancy of women in the United States, on the process of changing family structures and on Jewish feminism. Currently, she resides in Florence where she enjoys the dolce far niente, participating in various progressive, Jewish and feminist organizations.
