Leonard Hayflick is a professor of anatomy at the Faculty of Medicine, University of California at San Francisco. He was professor of medical microbiology at the Faculty of Medicine, Stanford University. Former president of the Gerontological Society of America, was also a founding member of the board of the National Institute on Aging. Recipient of several research awards, among which include the 1991 Sandoz Prize for Gerontological Research, Hayflick has studied the aging process for more than thirty years.
