José Enrique Alvarez Campillo is a doctor, an expert in food and nutrition . He received his doctorate in medicine from the University of Granada and has been Professor of Physiology at the University of Extremadura . He is a professor of nutrition and dietetics at the University of Extremadura and Senior partner of the Open University of Catalonia ( UOC) . His research has focused mainly on the study of diabetes , human nutrition and exercise . It's National Research Award 1989 , awarded by the Spanish Society of Diabetes . His teaching vocation is exercised not only in classrooms, but lectures in Spain and abroad , at universities , colleges and adult education centers . In recent years he has been singularly interested in the so-called Darwinian medicine focused on the study of diseases of affluence ( metabolic syndrome and associated diseases ) . Regular contributor to journals, he is co-author of several works in collaboration and author , among other books of success, Eva 's hip and Obese monkey.
