Norbert Lohfink, SJ, has long been known in professional circles world wide, but it has only been the translation of several of his German works into English that have introduced him to a wider American audience. Who's Who in Biblical Studies devotes considerable space to his academic achievements. His degrees: Licentiate in Philosophy from Munich in 1957, Licentiate in Theology from Frankfort in 1957, and Doctorate in Biblical Studies from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome in 1963. He has published more than twenty books and hundreds of articles and reviews. In addition to his academic activities, for many years he has associated himself with the "Integrierte Gemeinde," a group of some 500 Munich Christians concerned with biblical, liturgical, and community renewal.
