Franco Volpi

Franco Volpi (Vicenza, 1952-2009) was professor of philosophy at Padua University and visiting professor standing in Staffordshire (England). He was also the chair of philosophy at the Witten / Herdecke (1991-1998) and taught at other universities in Europe and North America. Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, member of the Institut International de Philosophie, the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere and Arti and the Olympic Academy, was awarded the literary prize "Montecchio" (1989), "Capo Circeo" (1997) and "Nietzsche" (2000)._x000D_

Among his publications include, besides his valuable editions of Schopenhauer, Heidegger, Carl Schmitt and Nicolas Gomez Davila: The Titans come. Ernst Jünger last Ideology (1998, with A. Gnoli), The solitary God (2005), Nihilism (2007), The God of acids. Conversations with Albert Hofmann (2008, with A. Gnoli), the last shaman (2008, with A. Gnoli). He wrote for the newspaper la Repubblica and occasionally for Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung._x000D_

The first collaboration of Franco Volpi for our editorial was to compile a series of little-known texts Schopenhauer, under the title "The art of happiness" has sold over 20,000 copies in the last nine years. Shortly after we dared to publish the "Great Encyclopedia of works of philosophy," a reference work of three volumes and almost 2000 pages, which brings together the biographies of the leading philosophers from around the world and a lot summaries of their works._x000D_
